Nicole is an award-winning picture book author with a passion for the environment and animal rights. Nicole’s most recent book, Jelly Boy (Walker Books Australia) tells the story of a jellyfish who falls in love with a plastic bag. This quirky and cautionary tale focuses on protecting our oceans.
Nicole’s picture book Billie, was awarded the 2019 ACT Writing and Publishing award in the children’s category. Billie takes the reader on a journey as she searches to find the biggest wave, only to encounter ocean junk, pollution, driftnets, dolphins in captivity and much more.
Nicole’s first book, Ella is about a little elephant who works the streets with her keeper. Her heart is broken and she desperately wants to find her mum.
Nicole continues to write new and engaging stories, with two of her manuscripts being recognised as highly commended in the CYA Conference 2019 competition. This is on the back of Nicole’s Spark Scholarship awarded by the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators in 2018 which saw her attend a major conference in New York. This scholarship is awarded to one author and one illustrator worldwide who are seen as being in the verge of a career breakthrough.
Nicole continues to partner with ocean and elephant conservation organisations around the world to help bring about change for animals and the environment.
